Production blog- Editing

Image
Welcome back bloggers! We started editing the filming that we did recently. We got all the scenes that we shot before and gathered them up in order and we picked out the best shots that we had. It was mainly my partner that edits since he is the one with the software, but I helped to put them in order and edit out which parts of the scenes we needed. I had to do this because we didn't stop filming in between since that would just be too much for us to look through to find the right shot. So we just kept it rolling so we could just look through a few videos. The problem with the editing is that it takes up so much storage on his computer that it keeps crashing. So we are constantly at risk of losing what we have done. Besides that though, all is going well, and the editing is going good. We are trying to put everything together with the music but we are still looking for some sound effects to go in the background. We need something that can give off horror and suspense. So we might ...

Production blog- Filming retakes

Image
Welcome back bloggers! Today I'll be talking on the process of doing some of footage from last week. While my partner and I went over the footage, we found out a few problems. One of them was that majority of the last scenes wasn't very clear. The camera wasn't focused or cleaned well, so the footage just came out pretty blurry. The second problem was that we realized that the outfits just didn't really make sense. We had to find the right clothes for the scene. We then chose something that fit the theme a lot better than before. Something comfortable and just made sense. I chose something comfortable, a sweatshirt and shorts. Some socks as well that made it seem "lounging". We then found a good fit for the killer, something that covered his face and was easy to put on and remove. For the reshoot we had an easier time. We were able to film faster and smoother. The lines were memorized and we were both in character. We also knew exactly what we wanted to come o...

Production blog- Starting to film

Image
Welcome back bloggers! Today we finally started filming! We picked out a date to go to the setting and start finally getting our project started. We picked out how we were going to film the scenes and what would be going on throughout. The script is done and we just need to memorize them. It would not be so difficult because we can read them before we film that specific scene. We had some ideas on what we would wear. We had an idea on casual but not too formal. Maybe some jeans and a shirt, or some sweatpants and a hoodie. Something that gives off relaxing. But not too uncomfortable that makes it not look part of a horror film. That is what we need to keep in mind. It needs to give off horror or else it wouldn't make sense. Like if a man in a tuxedo was just laying around watching a show. It would make you wonder what is going on. Besides that, we have where we are filming picked out and ready to go. So everything should go smooth unless one of us is unserious or just can't ke...

Production blog- Music choice!

Image
Welcome back bloggers! So far we have chosen the setting and where we are choosing to film. Now we are figuring out the music that we want to be playing in the background of the film. It's a difficult choice since a lot of the music that we know of is copyrighted. Which means that if we use it, it can get flagged down and the whole film won't be able to be used. Which will cause a giant delay in the finishing of the film. We had an idea of having one of our friends that really into music write it for us. But we are afraid that it won't turn out the way we need it to. Although it's an idea, a simpler way might just we going on a website with "free to use" music and audio. Not that we necessarily need music, but any kind of audio that can be played in the background that can help with special effect and dramatization. Some sound effects are going to need to be made too. Like for a floorboard creaking we might have to dramatize the noise and do it ourselves by h...

Production blog- Getting started!

Image
Welcome back, bloggers! I can't wait to tell you about this new project. My partner and I are going to be starting to film this Saturday night. Our genre is horror, and we have a whole idea of how we are going to put the film together. It will be filled with suspense, but I won't spoil it for you just yet. We have to figure most of this out still. Like what we will wear, the positioning of the camera while shooting the scenes, etc. We will be filming at my partner's home since their layout is perfect for the film. It's been quite hard getting together to begin filming since we have been delayed with all the schoolwork going on. Since we are more than halfway through the school year and all these tests are coming up, we are trying to do all these things at once, and it gets stressful. So we have finally decided on a date, and we are going to try and get everything done in one day. If that doesn't work, then we'll just have to finish another day before the deadlin...

Title Design- FT

The films opening credits will appear in a Emergency Alert System/digital style font that visually looks like it is glitching in and out throughout the top left and right of the screen.   However, every once and a while the credits will be shown embedded in the setting of the film. Examples of this will be credits appearing inside Tupperware and opened drawers as well as on shelves within the home of the characters.   The closest font name to what look is trying to be achieved is VCR OSD Mono   The title selected as of now is " Stand By " and will be presented in all Caps as well as bolded to stick out for the audience   The titles are going to be "typed" on-screen and then proceed to flicker/ glitch in and out of the screen until finally glitching away for good.   These titles will only be present for 3-4 seconds before glitching away   The titles are going to be white with a black background box and vice versa depending on the background colors...

Script- FT

Establishing Scene, in the backyard, night   The open shot starts with a wide shot of the house from the front, quickly cutting to the backyard.   A masked figure runs through the frame, quickly hiding. A POV shot then follows as the figure walks up to the window.      2nd scene, living room, night   Sara is sat at the couch watching the TV in the dark. Beside her is her brother Alfred not as intently watching TV and is fidgeting.   Alfred   Gosh Sara. I can't sit still, I've been inside all day and feel like crap.     Sara looks at here brother judgingly   Sara   Well do something about it. Don't whine about it to me.      Alfred rolls his eyes and stands up   Alfred   Alright I'm gonna go stretch my legs. I'll see ya later Sara.     Alfred walks towards the front door and we hear it open and close. Sara returns to watching her program. A loud bang is heard from the outside of the house. Sara...
